Learn Computer Skills

You can learn computer skills in our free workshops and in our relaxed drop-in activities, or join a Pop-Up Tech Café for technical support.

Learn how to use computers at the UBC Learning Exchange

Computer workshops are held once a week and the full series usually takes about a month to complete. All workshops take place at the Learning Exchange and you need to register in person in advance. Come and visit us at 612 Main Street to find out more.

Computer Drop-In sessions do not require registration – just come by and use a computer or WIFI.

Check the event calendar for dates and times for both computer workshops and drop-in computer activities.

Please visit us at 612 Main St or call 604-827-2772 for updates.

Computer Workshops

Everyone is welcome in our small group workshops

Our free workshops are for everyone, from beginner to advanced. We focus on what you need to learn and our small groups make learning easy. Each workshop includes practice time. Special tutorial sessions offer one-on-one instruction and support.

Learn at your own speed: Basic

Try our basic computer skills – for beginners with little or no computer experience. If you want to learn how to send an e-mail, use the Internet or improve typing skills using Microsoft Word, this workshop is for you.

Learn at your own speed: Advanced

If you are comfortable with computer basics but want to build skills, choose this workshop. The content of these workshops is flexible – for example Word, PowerPoint and Excel – depending on the interests of learners and volunteer instructors. Our instructors include members of the local community and UBC students.

Our computer workshops are free but you need to register in person. Visit us at 612 Main St. to find out how. If you have specific questions call us at 604-827-2772.
