About the event:
Can rewilding mitigate biodiversity crisis? Spoiler: possibly!
Join PhD student Joanne Fitzgibbons to explore how rewilding can help address the biodiversity crisis in the Downtown Eastside and beyond.
Joanne is a PhD candidate at the UBC Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) where she is looking at how urban rewilding can contribute to social-ecological resilience. This builds on previous work on participation and inclusion in planning with an eye toward collaboration, justice, and multi-stakeholder governance. Learn more about Joanne here.
Everyone is welcome!

About Climate Cafés:
Climate Cafés are a series of discussions on topics related to climate change and the Downtown Eastside that are organized by the Climate Equity Activation Resilience (CLEAR) project. CLEAR is a new collaboration between the UBC Learning Exchange, UBC Sustainability Hub, and four Downtown Eastside organizations—EMBERS-Eastside Works, Recycling Alternative, Working Gear, and Union Gospel Mission. The project’s goals are to to make climate research more accessible, define collaborative climate research projects with Downtown Eastside communities, and add capacity to local organizations to advocate for climate justice and action.
