Five students, Maggie Miland, Matt Hume, Natalia Balyasnikova, Felix Tso and Melissa Morrison, who have volunteered at the UBC Learning Exchange, were nominated to attend this year’s UBC Student Leader Recognition event.
This April 5th event hosted by the President’s Office recognized students whose sustained involvement has provided valuable contributions to the UBC Vancouver campus and the communities it works with.
UBC President Santa Ono thanked the students for their outstanding contributions as student leaders and gave each of them a book as a token of appreciation. Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?, by Michael J. Sandel, discusses various theories of justice and morality and guides readers to think critically about society’s current controversies and complicated issues. President Ono encouraged all of the student leaders to read the book and keep many of the lessons in mind as they continue on in their leadership roles in the UBC campus community and beyond.
Thank you to these five students, and everyone who contributes so much of their time, talent and energy to the UBC Learning Exchange!
