On November 4th at 7pm, the UBC Learning Exchange will be hosting a premiere of digital stories and artwork.  For the past several months, Downtown Eastside residents new to digital media, professional photographers volunteering their time and Learning Exchange staff have been collaborating on the creation of digital stories and images.  This has involved sharing their local and technical knowledge, and building on their individual talents and experiences. The result has been a discovery of artistry and inspiration.  We hope visitors to the exhibition will be inspired, too.

The exhibition, titled ‘Life with a View‘, is part of the Heart of the City Festival. The UBC Learning Exchange is excited and proud to be a part of this unique cultural event, now in its seventh year.

The Heart of the City Festival celebrates and builds on the people, cultures, art forms, and history of the Downtown Eastside. Involving the entire ecology of Downtown Eastside-based arts practice (professional, community, emerging, student artists, and lovers of the arts), the festival cultivates relationships within the community as well as between city-wide and Downtown Eastside artists and organizations. The festival provides skillbuilding workshops and capacity-sharing opportunities, giving voice to local issues, stories, and cultures. Most of the events are free or pay-as-you-can, with special low rates or free tickets for events with a set fee.”
