Reading Week Community Service Projects – Information Session for UBC Students

Information Session for UBC Students

When: Tuesday, October 26, 2004
Where: Dodson Room, Main Library
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Refreshments Provided: Pizza and Pop

Are you a student interested in gaining new perspectives and developing valuable leadership skills?  We are looking for dynamic students to be participants or leaders for this year’s Reading Week projects. This information session will provide you with an overview of this hands-on learning experience, information on the time commitment involved and an overview of projects for Reading Week 2005.

During reading week each year, the UBC Learning Exchange Trek Program collaborates with UBC Student Development and other units across campus to do Reading Week Community Service Projects. Reading Week projects provide 200 students with the opportunity to participate in a short-term immersion experience where educational workshops are combined with hands-on community service. Students increase their understandings of social, political, economic and urban issues. This year’s projects will run from February 14-17, 2005 with an orientation session from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2005.
